Dermaplane

Dermaplaning is typically acceptable for all skin types, including standard, dry, oily and combination skin. Individuals looking to improve the texture and radiance of their skin, remove peach fuzz or address minor skin imperfections such as fine lines and mild acne scars may wish to try dermaplane. However, those with acne or sensitive skin should proceed with caution. Dermplaning can't be performed on skin with active acne. If you breakout close to your appointment, we’ll likely need to reschedule.

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation procedure that involves gently scraping off dead skin cells and vellus hair using a sterile surgical scalpel. This treatment can leave the skin looking smoother, brighter and more youthful. It can also reverse the effects of aging, reducing fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars. Depending on your skin's condition, dermaplaning treatments can be done on their own or with other procedures.

Before treatment, we’ll thoroughly cleanse your skin and remove makeup, oil and impurities. Your provider will hold a sterile, single-use surgical scalpel at a 45-degree angle and shave the skin's surface carefully. We will move the scalpel in short, swift strokes to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine hair. A typical dermaplaning session can take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size and condition of the area being treated.

There is no recovery or downtime required for dermaplaning. However, it’s essential to keep the skin well-hydrated with gentle moisturizers. We recommend broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect the newly exposed skin from UV damage. You should also refrain from using harsh exfoliants or active ingredients like retinoids for a few days post-treatment. For ongoing benefits, dermaplaning can be repeated every four to six weeks as part of a regular skincare routine.

Since there is no actual downtime for dermaplaning, you should see results immediately after treatment. The results will include reduced or eliminated peach fuzz and brighter, healthier-looking skin. Results should last at least a few weeks. We recommend scheduling a dermaplaning appointment at least once a month to maintain results and prevent peach fuzz from regrowing fully.
